Of Belongingness

If there is one feeling a human heart craves for life long, its the feeling of belongingness.

I like the Wiki definition which says,  "Belongingness is the human emotional need to be an accepted member of a group. Whether it is,family, friends, co-workers, or a sports team, humans have an inherent desire to belong and be an important part of something greater than themselves. This implies a relationship that is greater than simple acquaintance or familiarity. The need to belong is the need to give and recieve affection from others"

We not just want to feel appreciated, recieve support and encouragement, but we must be told that we belong to someone or some group of people. Thats the primary reason for our behavioural changes. Have you noticed how you end up changing your behaviour only and always when you realize your belongingness is at stake?

We simply cannot imagine being unwanted.

Well here is the happy news. We will always belong to one person- God the Father. It is an irreversible belongingness. That is why human beings, no matter how far we've gone, can as long as we live, always hope to find our way back.

In our loneliest, darkest moments, remembering this belongingness will open the doorway for divine grace to soothe, heal, rejuvenate and activate us. Just remembering will do. Thats the kind of Love God has for us. It is easily stirred at our sorrow, helplessness and tears. It will always move him and he will make things alright as long as we stay still in expectant enduring hope, and allow him.
